Selected by Buffalo Sabres round 4 #72 overall 1991 NHL Entry Draft.

An Ottawa native, Ambroziak played his minor hockey with Ottawa South of the ODMHA and played parts of 1 season with the Ottawa Junior Senators before a 4 year campaign with the Ottawa 67's of the OHL. From there Ambroziak was dafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 4th round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Ambroziak debuted with Buffalo's American Hockey League affiliates, the Rochester Americans, in the 1991–92 season. He played with the Americans for three seasons, and made his only NHL appearances with the Sabres during the 1994–95 season. He played in 12 games, recording one assist.

Ambroziak spent the next four seasons between the AHL, the International Hockey League, and the United Hockey League. He settled in with the New Mexico Scorpions of the Western Professional Hockey League for the 1999–2000 season, and stayed with the franchise through the league's merger with the Central Hockey League. His final season with the Scorpions was the 2004–05 season, the team's final season in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ambroziak is currently the all-time record holder for goals, assists, points and games played in franchise history. On March 5th, 2005 the Scorpions retired Ambroziak's #12 jersey.

In 2009-2011 Ambroziak owned and operated the New Mexico Renegades Junior A Hockey Club of the Western States Hockey League. There he oversaw all on and off ice operations with the club.

He has recently returned to the Ottawa area with his wife Maryanne and 3 children, Jake, Andie & Kennedy and will be working at the Bell Sensplex in Kanata as the Head of Hockey Development.
